Two of the most important tools and skills for effective job seeking are networking and informational interviews.

With 80% of jobs being filled by internal referrals, it’s more important than ever to identify your target organizations and build your internal connections. In this session, led by Career Advisor Cathy Gibbons, you’ll learn how to develop a strategy to position yourself for your target jobs and organizations even before they announce the openings. We will review resources for finding connections where you have none and for developing and leveraging those connections to land the job you want.

Cathy Gibbons has over fifteen years of experience as a career advisor. She maintains a private practice while also serving as Director of Experiential Learning at the The New School.  Cathy specializes in career advising for graduate students and alumni, and provides career counseling and workshops for the Sustainability Management Program at Columbia University’s Earth Institute. Prior to her current position, Cathy was the Director of Alumni and Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) Career Services at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.   Date: Tuesday, July 14, 2015
