In the wake of Superstorm Sandy, City Council passed a number of building resiliency laws, eight of which are currently in effect:With support from the NYC Department of Buildings, Urban Green Council developed this complimentary program to educate building professionals about the new resiliency laws, the resulting code changes, and how they will prepare the city for future extreme weather events.   29/13 Raising and Moving Buildings 82/13 Providing a Flood Manual 83/13 Preventing Sewage Backflow 95/13 Protecting Patient Care Areas 96/13 Survey Data and Flood Maps 99/13 Cable Length and Fuel Oil Storage 109/13 Temporary Flood Shields 111/13 Emergency and Standby Power   As a result, New York City architects and engineers are tasked with learning new code requirements and creating stronger, more resilient buildings. With support from the NYC Department of Buildings, Urban Green Council developed this program to educate building professionals about the laws, the resulting code changes, and how they will prepare the city for future extreme weather events.
