As New York City invests in a greener economy, small businesses are at the forefront of experimentation and innovation. Engineers and scientists are developing technology to address climate change. Entrepreneurs are designing business models and strategies that bring those solutions to market. And individuals from every sector, from food service to construction, are finding opportunities to participate as workers and consumers.   Join us as we showcase four diverse startups in the clean tech and sustainability sector. Edenworks designs fully automated and scalable aquaponic farming systems to fit the unique constraints of dense urban environments like New York. Edenworks will build and operate their proprietary farming systems near food-related businesses, then supply local and organic produce and fish directly from their farms to commercial customers. By targeting the supply side of food, Edenworks can seamlessly change the way we all eat. Jason is the Founder of Edenworks. He also previously worked in business development and partnerships at the NYU-Poly DUMBO incubator helping to support other startups and is the VP of NYU School of Engineering’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Association.   Ned Horneffer, Senior Analyst, Pure Energy Partners. Pure Energy Partners is a venture catalyst firm that helps promising and impactful clean tech ventures achieve scale. The company works intensively with entrepreneurs, investors, and corporate innovators to build and execute commercialization strategies for sustainability ideas and products. By connecting resources, people, and capital, Pure Energy hopes to spark a cleaner economy. Ned is a Senior Analyst at Pure Energy here he leads project management and a broad variety of portfolio project research activities.   Sandeep Menon, Director- Customer Success, Sefaira. Sefaira creates software to help architects design high-performing, sustainable buildings. By combining physics, computer science, and real-time analytics into intuitive tools, Sefaira works to improve the way decisions are made in the design process. This company was founded by entrepreneurs out of London and New York in 2009 and has won numerous awards including the 2013 Ecosummit Gold Medal. Sandeep leads Sefaira’s customer success team globally. He brings years of entrepreneurial experience in the clean technology space, working with different start-ups to commercialize green building, energy efficiency, smart grid and GIS technologies.   Jeremy Shannon, CEO, Build with Prospect. Build with Prospect is committed to designing and constructing sustainable, low-energy buildings. Build with Prospect is New York’s first worker cooperative in the building construction industry and is equally owned and operated by its 16 employees. Jeremy is the CEO of Build with Prospect and will speak on his experience in sustaining small green businesses through different economic times. As an architect, Jeremy is a founding board member of the National Passive House Alliance and member of LEED for Homes NYC Evaluation Committee.
