October 26, 2016

skyline-buildings-new-york-skyscrapers   While we all look to sustainable technology, ignoring the basics of buildings can be wasteful for your clients, result in your missing building performance metrics, and is generally bad for your business. If you can get a 10% ROI on a project, why not do a more full, less expensive, and significantly more cost effective new construction or retrofit package that will have a 40-50% ROI? Are we focusing too much on a tax credit, and missing a simple technologies that will make the building more comfortable, affordable, sustainable, affordable, healthy, and profitable? These are some of the questions that many of us ask every day, and as was true with all of us entering into the sustainability field, it took us a long time, many teachers, and much reading to get up to speed on the essentials. Get a crash course on buildings and building science, to begin or reinforce your skills, with some of the experts in the field.   This event will be in the PechaKucha format, where presentations are synchronized to run one after another automatically, 20 slides at 20 seconds a slide for a total of 6 minutes and 40 seconds per speaker. It is a sprinted presentation that is very engaging and a lot of fun. Once all presentations are complete, we will close the event with questions from the audience.   Date: Wednesday, November 16th, 2016 Time: 6:30-8:00pm Place: Florim Ceramiche, 152 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10016   Click here to register!     Our speakers will include: Jonathan Flothow, Steam System Specialist at Steven Winter Associates, speaking on Cold-Start Method of Steam Boiler Sizing Dominique Lempereur, Director of East Coast Operations at kW Engineering, speaking on Maintaining Performance: Avoiding the “Energy Creep” Dan Rieber, Weatherization Director at Northern Manhattan Improvement Corportation, speaking on Better Heating and Hot Water Systems Tom Thompson, Vice President at LERRI Solar Technology, speaking on Solar – Passive & Active Tom Sahagian, Independent Energy-Efficiency Consultant, speaking on O&M / Proper installation in the first place Bill Zoeller, Senior Vice President at Steven Winter Associates, speaking on Incorporating Resilience into your Building   Save Save Save Save Save Save Save Save Save Save Save Save
