Fall 2012 Green Building Tour
GreenHomeNYC and NESEA Invite you to our Fall Green Building Tour The tours are an opportunity to visit a varied collection of buildings and learn about the energy efficient and sustainable building methods directly from building professionals such as the architect, engineer, developer or owner. You’ll experience firsthand the inner workings and design details, as well as the challenges and accomplishments that were faced by the professionals involved with these commercial and residential buildings. This year’s tour will feature: Passive homes, wind turbines, Intello Membranes, private green roofs, a natural pool, recycled material composition and more!Date: Saturday, October 13th 2012

o This tour of a passive solar building will enlighten you to photovoltaics, net-metered, low VOC paints adhesives, low flow fixtures, dual flush toilets, radiant heating.

o This building achieves EXTREME energy efficiency by combining conventional materials with better design. Features: minimum efficiency boiler, R-13 wall insulation, standard aluminum frame windows, and concrete block walls.
o Result: the first energy efficient building built for the same cost as code minimum construction.

GreenHomeNYC’s Fall 2011 NYC Green Buildings Open House is Saturday October 1st! Coinciding with The NEW New York green block party, this year’s tour includes more than a dozen buildings in all five boroughs of New York City! The Fall 2011 Open House is part of the 16th annual National Solar Tour sponsored by the American Solar Energy Society (ASES). Guests visit a variety of green buildings, accompanied by the owners, designers, and engineers who built them. The Green Buildings Open House is a chance for the public to tour green buildings throughout New York City. Open House not only provides a view of the inner workings of several green buildings, but also gives visitors a chance to meet the owners, architects and designers who built and operate them. The 2011 Fall Green Buildings Open House in New York City is organized by GreenHomeNYC and the Northeast Solar Energy Association (NESEA). It is part of the 16th annual National Solar Tour sponsored by the American Solar Energy Society (ASES). More than 160,000 participants will visit some 5,500 buildings in 3,200 communities across the U.S. GreenHomeNYC invites owners, architects, and engineers to showcase their exemplary green buildings as part of this national event. The Melody Green Building Tour
Join GreenHomeNYC Saturday, July 23rd as we tour one of New York’s newest, greenest multifamily buildings! Blue Sea Development has recently completed a multifamily affordable co-op in the Bronx using some of the latest in sustainable and energy efficient design. The Melody, as the building is named, is comprised of 63 affordable one, two and three bedroom cooperative apartments with a fully equipped fitness center and outdoor fitness path. It is the first residential building in New York to comply with the NYC Active Design Guidelines, promoting physical activity and health through building design. (more…)
