Director of the NASA-OMEGA Global Initiative Project Professor of Biomolecular Engineering, UC Santa Cruz

The energy crisis has triggered worldwide interest in using algae as a viable alternative fuel. Dr. Trent, the inventor, heart and soul of the Offshore Membrane Enclosures for Growing Algae (OMEGA) system, uses algae to clean wastewater while producing biofuels, fertilizer and animal food. Integrating solar and tidal energy, the OMEGA Project encompasses all aspects of sustainable urban design.
