SPEAKERS
Walter Mehl | Partner, Jaros, Baum & Bolles Consulting Engineers
Walter is an electrical engineer with a 26-year history in the construction industry as a design professional. Since joining Jaros, Baum & Bolles (JB&B) in 1987, he has been involved with projects in the NYC metropolitan area, across the US and in Asia focusing on electrical power and information technology designs for a wide variety of projects and building types, including high-rise commercial office towers, residential construction, institutional and resort facilities. Walter contributed greatly to the Building Resiliency Task Force, co-authoring a number of proposals, from expanding the resiliency of telecommunications systems to the installation of external hookups in order to quickly utilize temporary generators and boilers.
Jon Weiskopf | Senior Mechanical Engineer, Steven Winter Associates
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Steven Winter Associates, Jon is responsible for the Commercial Energy Group, which performs a variety of energy audits, retro-commissioning, fuel conversion and high performance design studies. He also oversees all MEP design work in commercial and multi-family buildings. With 8 years of experience in MEP system design, energy auditing, commissioning and retro-commissioning, Jon manages engineering teams to ensure work is properly planned and implemented to achieve client satisfaction and performance objectives. Jon played a significant role on the Task Force, co-authoring two proposals that dealt with backup generators. His proposals suggest relaxing the requirements for standby generators and making options more widely available, as well as helping owners make educated decisions on the types of loads to support.
