The Battery Park City Branch is New York Public Library’s first green LEED certified branch in Manhattan.
The bright 10,000 square-foot, two-story branch houses a collection of over 23,000 items, separate reading areas for children, young adults, and adults, a multipurpose programming space, and offers access to 36 public computers and a wide range of services for the community.
93 Nevins comprises two 3,000 sf homes, “Nevins” and “Pacific”, featured in Natural Home magazine and the New York Times as showcases for healthy green design and furnished entirely by Room & Board. Built according to US Green Building “Pacific” is light and airy in feel, while “Nevins is warm and inviting; integral to both “Nevins” and “Pacific” are healthy finishes, energy-efficient radiant floor heating, blown in insulation, air tight building shell, gas powered chiller-heater, water-conserving and energy-efficient appliances and fixtures, electricity generated by photovoltaic array, sustainably harvested and local materials and finishes, and planted terraces. Each unit also has its own garage or workshop.

The Edge is one of the largest residential projects in New York City to implement sustainable design and green construction.
The Edge is seeking certification under the USGBC’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) New Construction (NC) program. The LEED certification process provides an excellent framework to help achieve a building’s green goals. Equally important is that future owners will achieve significant financial benefits through energy cost savings while occupying a more enjoyable, healthier living space which is also helping to protect the environment.
The Delta is the 1st building in NYC to be 100% powered by solar and utilizes many renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies that significantly decrease it’s energy use by more then 75% compared with the average building.
Voltaic Solaire’s goal with the project: “If we can develop a building that powers itself, on an unusual trianglular lot in one of the most code-heavy cities in the world, our hope is to serve as a model, and inspire other developers around the world to do the same.”
Arrow Linen is an industrial laundry facility located near Prospect Park in Brooklyn, NY. The facility uses large quantities of hot water and electricity to clean uniforms, table linens and other items for restaurant and institutional customers.
Two 150 kW engines were installed to produce electric power and preheat hot water consumed in the facility. Because hot water use is high and entering water temperatures are low, the system achieves consistently high CHP efficiency (over 80% HHV). The engines operate about 10-14 hours per day, six days a week.
