Green Breakfast Club is a peer-to-peer resource exchange that meets for monthly networking events to grow local green business community through resource sharing. The event format includes storytelling from a keynote speaker’s success and failure story & a one hour resource exchange where each attendee presents short ‘gives’ and ‘asks’ to share resources. This event meshes innovators in social and green enterprise, technology, nonprofit, startup, the financial sector and Corporate Social Responsibility.   May 10th’s event features keynote speaker Tonya Surman, Founder / CEO of Centre for Social Innovation. Come learn from a leader in social innovation, enjoy breakfast/barter & great folks.   Tonya Surman Headshot Tonya Surman is the founder and Executive Director of the Center for Social Innovation in Toronto and New York. Raised by hippies, Tonya Surman has been making peace signs and raising a ruckus since the day she was born. Her most recent ruckus is the Centre for Social Innovation. As founding executive director, Tonya imagines the Centre as space that sparks creativity, connectedness and fun. Before this, she channeled her overzealous optimism into a national coalition of organizations working on children’s environmental health, a social enterprise offering e-mail to activists and an edgy online news hub for Canadian progressives. Between these experiments in social entrepreneurship, Tonya has found the time to create a coop daycare, host chaotic street parties and create community gardens. She is also the mother of two wonderful boys which, in the end, is what matters most.
