The successful integration of citizen involvement in an emergency management setting is critical as multifamily housing organizations prepare, respond, recover, and mitigate the impacts of disasters. In partnership with NeighborWorks America, Fall 2014’s opening resilience series training will cover the design and development of an emergency management program to address the organization and management of volunteers in emergency response, community engagement, logistics, communication and records administration. The training will focus on engaging residents to organize at a hyper-local level in a way that will increase community capacity to respond to an emergency. The day will focus on preparedness through community organizing, volunteer management, operations, logistics, communications and response systems. Participants will also receive materials and tools to use and apply after the training.
