As warmer spring weather approaches our region, many of the buildings that were impacted by super-storm Sandy will begin to experience problems that will endanger their habitability. Deterioration may continue for many years. Similar problems have taken place in New Orleans and other areas affected by major storms involving widespread flooding. This massive disruption will continue unless a proper mitigation strategy is developed.
The renowned panel of experts will consider several conditions that hold a high potential for future occupant risk and emerging building problems. The panelists will offer their evaluation of
a) the probability of adverse outcome;
b) quantify the seriousness of an adverse impact;
c) outline mitigation strategies;
d) estimate the implementation costs; and
e) propose a private and public sector implementation plan.
