Superstorm Sandy caused a multiday loss of power and extreme flooding in many buildings across New York City. These damages exceeded the pre-existing emergency planning scenarios of many area properties. Building owners and operators will benefit from this discussion as awareness about emergency preparedness increases and best practices for prevention, response and recovery emerge.   This session will focus on emergency planning and recovery strategies for operations staff, property managers and building owners. Our speaker will provide recommendations on model emergency preparedness strategies, including best practices in emergency building operations and maintenance, managing insurance claims, dealing with general liability during an emergency and interacting with different governmental agencies.   About Our Presenter John Brandstetter, managing director of The Brandstetter Group, has been active in the emergency response and recovery field for over 15 years. He sits on the boards of NYC’s Office of Emergency Management and the New York chapter of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA). Mr. Brandstetter has been a featured speaker on natural disasters in the Tri-State region, detailing the various effects future storms will have on our properties, including wind and storm surge, damage assessments to public and private buildings, environmental consequences and recovery.   For additional information, contact Laurie Schoeman or by phone 212.284.7156.
