GreenHomeNYC Spring Tour: Arbor House

GreenHomeNYC invites you to join us for a behind-the-scenes tour of the newly finished Arbor House in the South Bronx. This state of the art affordable housing development features a 10,000 sqft fully integrated hydroponic greenhouse on the roof! The farm will use harvested rainwater and will be used to provide fresh, healthy vegetables to the building’s tenants and surrounding community, making a significant contribution to food access and public health in the neighborhood.
In addition, the building will promote healthy living through its fully equipped indoor fitness center and outdoor fitness path. It meets the NYC Active Design Guidelines to combat obesity.
The building has also achieved LEED Platinum certification through energy efficiency and innovative designs. These include a 20k cogeneration plant, high-efficiency condensing boilers, and smart programmable thermostats in each apartment, which learn tenants’ occupancy schedules and comfort habits.
This will be a great opportunity to learn the future role buildings can play in shaping health communities in NYC.
