New York Solar Energy Society SOLAR SALON NYC Tuesday, November 11, 2014, 5:30-8:30 pm Topics: the State of Solar, microgrids and energy storage. In this final solar salon of 2014, we will cover the latest developments in the worlds of microgrids, solar and storage. This evening’s speakers will share with the audience the latest in storage technologies for use in distributed energy systems (DG, e.g. solar, wind), the latest developments in the growing solar business in New York, upstate and Long Island. Scott is a serial entrepreneur who has been with GE for 3.5 years helping them bring the Durathon battery to market. Mr. Barnett’s background is in the IT field, having worked for companies such as AT&T Bell Labs, Transarc/IBM and BEA Systems and startups such as Novera, Bluenog and Evident Software. Mr. Barnett has an MS from Columbia University. GE’s Durathon Battery technology is an innovative and advanced industrial battery engineered to meet the growing need for safer, reliable and high-performance energy storage solutions for stationary and motive applications. Delivering value and ingenuity to the Telecommunications, Power Generation, Grid Operation and Energy Management markets, Durathon Battery Energy Storage Solutions will change the way the world sees battery power. Tom Thompson*, Key Accounts Manager, JA Solar USA, Inc., Mr. Thompson is a Key Account Manager for JA Solar USA, Inc. where he is focused on providing North American clients with high quality, high efficiency PV cells and modules. Mr. Thompson has over 30 years’ of practical, leadership experience in the renewable and conventional energy industries. He has held senior management positions in the private sector (with a BIPV module maker), as a utility regulator (NYS PSC), in the utility industry (1st Rochdale Cooperative NYC, Ltd.), and in the not-for-profit arena. In addition to residential and commercial solar systems experience, Mr. Thompson has developed landmark, BIPV projects in the US and EU. In 2007, he developed, owned and operated the first, hydrogen fuel cell/cogeneration system in a Manhattan, residential high-rise. Mr. Thompson is also active in the energy policy arena, serving as past President of the NY Solar Energy Industries Association (NYSEIA). He currently serves as a member of the Board of the New York Solar Energy Society (NYSES) and as Chairman of the Board of the Solar Energy Business Association of New England (SEBANE). William L. Feldmann, COO, Empire Clean Energy Supply (ECES) Mr. Feldmann has been a leader in the renewable energy field for over a decade. He has consulted on everything from small residential to multi-megawatt PV projects. In 2005 Mr. Feldmann, along with Mr. Terrence Reilly founded, a local distributor of renewable energy equipment. They started offering Photovoltaic equipment, and have since added Solar thermal, and Geothermal heating and cooling equipment. Mr .Feldmann serves as a board member of The New York Solar Energy Industries Association (NYSEIA), a founding member and former Chairman of the Long Island Solar Energy Industries Association (LISEIA), and a founding member of the newly formed Long Island Geothermal Energy Organization. —————————- * NYSES Board Member
