Passive House is standard for high performance construction that is beginning to take hold in the US, and especially in New York. Its advantages, such as greater durability, resiliency, comfort, and energy efficiency when compared to traditional construction, provide the owners of Passive House certified buildings greater control of their long-term operational costs. Could building or rehabilitating to the Passive House Standard also be a good approach for affordable housing developers and owner-operators?   Join us for the session where we explore the feasibility of Passive House for affordable housing. Scott Short of Ridgewood Bushwick Senior Citizens Council and architect Chris Benedict will discuss their experience of working together on two recent Passive House projects located in Brooklyn. The speakers will present the technical aspects of achieving the Passive House standard in the context of the financial and regulatory realities faced by many affordable housing developers.
