As building systems become more complex, the industry demands increasingly detailed analysis of enclosures earlier in the project design phase. Despite new innovations in software, no single program exists to share knowledge across multiple platforms and accelerate the design process. From energy performance and thermal comfort to daylighting and operational costs, solutions are achieved using a suite of analysis tools and adapted programming.   At this discussion, industry experts will review the various tools and techniques used by the top sustainability companies in New York City today. Speakers will also examine the metrics that influence facade performance and discuss the close relationship envelopes have with mechanical systems.   SPEAKERS   Michael Marvin | Energy Analyst, Buro Happold   Michael is a firm believer that contemporary architecture requires a larger consideration than what has traditionally been viewed as the role of building designers. He has taught courses in sustainable design and energy analysis at the Stevens Institute of Technology and is currently a guest instructor at the Columbia GSAPP.   Jessica Sundberg Zofchak, LEED AP BD+C | Senior Environmental Designer, Atelier Ten   In her role at Atelier Ten, Jessica works on a number of highly ambitious local and international projects, focusing on integrated and computational methods for building performance optimization. Her recent focus includes leading development of Atelier Ten’s in-house daylight and façade optimization tool set.
