ABOUT THE TRAINING Our presenters will review current sewer and water rates and trends and best practices on managing water conservation. Jim Buckley of University Neighborhood Housing Program (UNHP) will cover the history and policy evolution of current water and sewer rates and share cases on working with the New York City Department of Environmental Protection to address billing issues and utilizing DEP programs to reduce rates. Mary Tchamkina of Enterprise Community Partners will address water and sewer cost issues and provide best practices on how to mitigate those issues. This training is geared toward owners of affordable housing, specifically for directors of maintenance, property managers, and fiscal staff that supports building operations.   PRESENTERS Jim Buckley is the Executive Director of University Neighborhood Housing Program (UNHP).Jim has worked in the Northwest Bronx with community-based non-profits for more than 35 years.  He became the founding director of University Neighborhood Housing Program (UNHP) in l989.  UNHP’s mission is to create, preserve and improve affordable housing in the Northwest Bronx and New York City.   Mary Tchamkina is the Program Associate in the New York office of Enterprise. Mary is part of the Technical Services team and is responsible for the production of the PartnerPREP program, which focuses on portfolio-wide green operations and maintenance for affordable housing in New York City.
