Touted as the greenest skyscraper in the world, PNC’s new $400 million, 33-story corporate headquarters (completed in October, 2015) employs an array of impressive sustainability strategies including multiple façade systems and a solar chimney. For approximately 42% of working hours throughout the year, the building will rely on operable windows and flaps in its sophisticated glass skin to bring in fresh air, rather than on mechanical ventilation.   Hear architect Doug Gensler (Gensler) and mechanical engineer Denzil Gallagher (BuroHappold Engineering) speak about the design team’s methods for combining natural and mechanical ventilation, and how extensive energy modeling and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) studies were used to predict system performance—and create a tower that is project to use half the energy of a typical tall office building.   Speakers: Denzil Gallagher Principal, BuroHappold Engineering Doug Gensler Managing Director, Principal, Gensler   Schedule: 6:00 – 6:30 PM Registration and Reception 6:30 – 8:00 PM Presentation and Q&A
