I am having a case of “office envy” today after the Jan 14th tour of the Audubon Society. If you are not already aware, the National Audubon Society located at 225 Varick Street has earned LEED® Platinum Certification for its new headquarters. The project received the highest point total of any commercial interior in the world as certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. The 27,500 square foot rental space offers an exceptional number of features that correspond to the LEED Rating System for Commercial Interiors as listed here. Wandering through the office, it makes you understand and appreciate how much consultation, work, and care was put in to achieve the client and landlord expectations and goals. The key point in the presentation was clear, achieving such an efficient and aesthetically pleasing office environment could not have been done without the strong integration and early collaboration of all consultants, contractors, and major stakeholders. If you missed out on the sold out tour last night, Audubon Society has an educational video of the process here. – Olivia
