GreenHomeNYC’s Fall 2011 NYC Green Buildings Open House is Saturday October 1st! Coinciding with The NEW New York green block party, this year’s tour includes more than a dozen buildings in all five boroughs of New York City! The Fall 2011 Open House is part of the 16th annual National Solar Tour sponsored by the American Solar Energy Society (ASES). Guests visit a variety of green buildings, accompanied by the owners, designers, and engineers who built them. More than 160,000 participants will visit some 5,500 buildings in 3,200 communities across the U.S. Click through for participating buildings and guest registration! The Green Buildings Open House is GreenhomeNYC’s semi-annual tour of green buildings all over New York City, taking place in the Spring and Fall of every year. The event gives New Yorkers a chance to get inside Green buildings and hear about their inner workings from the owners, architects, and engineers who designed, built and operate them. Visitors will come away with new expectations of comfort, livability, energy and environmental benefits. The Williamsburg Guided Tour The Williamsburg Guided Tour will be accompanied by GreenHomeNYC volunteers and will visit three sites. This group tour will start at 439 Metropolitan Ave. and end at The NEW New York green block party. Pre-registration is required, and registration will close at 3PM on Fri. At each site, your visit will be guided by someone who can speak knowledgeably about the green features and energy efficiency of the building (typically, the owner, architect, engineer or green consultant, or building manager). Please note that all tour registrations will end at 3PM on Friday, September 30! Unless noted, tour hosts will welcome visitors who drop in at the tour times, but your registration helps us keep everyone organized.
