Governor Paterson has announced the
New York Great Appliance Swap Out – a program that provides $16.8 million for New Yorkers to turn in their less efficient appliances for rebates on energy efficient appliances
NOW through Sunday, February 21. The program uses federal funds from the
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
Individual units must have the
Energy Star label, and units that are purchased as part of a 3-unit bundle must meet
CEE standards to qualify. Consumers must replace old appliances, and can receive larger rebates for recycling the old appliances. The Swap Out is administered by
NYSERDA.
Here are the rebates:

Clothes washers: $75 ($100 w/ recycling)
Freezers: $50 ($75 w/ recycling)
Dishwashers: $500, only when purchased as part of a three appliance package ($555 w/ recycling)
