NESEA Master Workshops: February — sign up now

GreenHomeNYC and NY Designs are collaborating to bring three NESEA Master Workshops to La Guardia Community College this February. The workshops will be taught by Marc Rosenbaum. His work has been nationally recognized by ASHRAE, AIA, EEBA, and NESEA. Six AIA credits will be provided per workshop. Each workshop is $250 plus a one time registration fee of $15. A discount is available to NESEA members and CUNY students. This is the FIRST time these courses are being offered in New York City through NESEA. GreenHomeNYC is NESEA’s NYC chapter. (more…)

September Forum: BIG GREEN

The Green Building Forum is held on the third Wednesday of each month (except December) at 6:30 PM and features presentations by green building practitioners followed by discussion. The events are always free and open to the general public. This month’s topic is BIG GREEN – in recent years in we have been seeing many new green buildings and public spaces popping up all over the world. But what does it take to create these BIG green projects? This month, architects and urban designers will delve into the complexities of how these projects get built. Join us at Trespa’s showroom where speakers from three architectural and urban design firms, Gensler, Cook + Fox and West 8, will explore the issues of bringing green projects from blueprints to actuality. As a prelude to the Green Buildings Open House 2006, we put together a panel of green experts who showcased some of the soon-to-be completed and most fascinating green buildings in New York: the “ultra-green” Bank of America, get the inside scoop on the much anticipated Hearst building, and the guidelines used in green residential projects in the city and the boroughs. International Green Building Movement – September 21, 2005

At past GreenHome NYC forums we have learned about green projects in New York City as well as universities around the country. Join GreenHome as we go international. Hear firsthand about the international climate of green design from Neil Chambers, founder of Green Ground Zero, and the primary force in establishing the organization’s international presence. As the director of GGZ, Neil has given talks at the United Nations World Urban Forum, the USGBC Conference, the first nrg4SD Summit and the World Congress of Architecture. He has also been involved with shaping environmental policy by writing and advising elected officials including the North Sumatera government in Indonesia. Date: Wednesday, September 21, 2005 6:30-8:00pm Location: Hafele Showroom–Madison Park (25 E. 26th St) SPEAKER BIO Neil Chambers is a green architect and designer with nearly 10 years experience in the field. His architectural design experience spans from infrastructure to interiors to low-income housing. He is the owner of Chambers Design, Inc. and is a partner and CEO of NCEB Product Design. Both of his businesses specialize in sustainable design for process, buildings, interiors, products and city planning. Neil is the founder of Green Ground Zero and the primary force in establishing the organization’s international presence. As the director of GGZ, Neil has given talks at the United Nations World Urban Forum, the USGBC Conference, the first nrg4SD Summit and the World Congress of Architecture. He has also been involved with shaping environmental policy by writing and advising elected officials including the New York City Council, New York City Comptroller’s Office and New York State Comptroller’s Office, and the North Sumatera government in Indonesia. He is an adjunct professor at New York University teaching both green design and environmental policy. Neil studied architecture at Clemson University and studio arts at Maryland Institute, College of Art.
