Building Performance

Association for Energy Affordability Training in weatherization, building analysis, energy efficient building operation, hydronic heating system design; Building Performance Institute (BPI) prep courses. Association for Energy Engineers Geared at individuals with technical backgrounds, certification programs offered by the AEE include: energy management, energy auditing, sustainable development, lighting efficiency, green building engineer, and others. Bronx Community College Center for Sustainable Energy Besides BPI prep courses, the center offers classes and workshops on integration of sustainable energy technology: photovoltaics; geo- solar thermal heating; clean energy business. Building Performance Institute Offers nationally recognized certification and accreditation in residential building performance; one must be BPI-certified in order to contact with NYSERDA on energy efficiency projects. Center for Energy Efficiency and Building Science A NYSERDA-funded institution; training takes place at various institutions throughout the state and can serve as preparation for BPI certification. Cooper Union Continuing Education Engineers, architects, developers, designers, and members of allied professions can earn a Certificate in Green Building Design or take individual courses, including LEED exam prep. Everblue Training Institute LEED exam prep. Evergreen Institute Center for Renewable Energy and Green Building On-line courses. Green Collaborative LEED exam prep courses; personal sustainability workshops. GreenBuild365 A USGBC project, this “online portal to green building education” lists a wide variety of online and on-site green building courses, some of which are free. Loginandlearn.com Energy Efficiency Campus E-learning courses on energy efficiency and building design, as well as National Association of the Remodeling Industry’s and ASHRAE’s courses. Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA) Sustainability and renewable energy workshops in the Northeast area; resources for teachers as well. New York University School of Continuing Education Architecture, Engineering, and Construction 500+ courses a year, including topics of sustainable design and sustainable development. Pratt Institute Certificate Program in Sustainable Building, Infrastructure Design and Management Seven-course certificate program for design professional, engineers, and government agency professionals looking to green their skills. Pratt Institute Continuing Education: Architectural Products Sponsored courses held in the classroom and on-line; can be taken for AIA and/or LEED credits. Urban Green Council (USGBC NY Chapter) Urban Green Council hosts lectures and events relating to green building. The events are aimed at the general public as well as building industry professionals looking to earn LEED credit.
