One of only two completed LEED projects in the Bronx, the Mount Hope Community Center will house a computer training and job counseling center, conference facilities, meeting rooms, recreational facilities and administrative offices.
The Mt. Hope neighborhood has one of the lowest percentages of land devoted to indoor or outdoor recreational space of any neighborhood in the Bronx. Less than half of its population are high school graduates and 35 percent have incomes below the poverty level.
The Mayor’s office, Borough President Adolfo Carrion Jr. and Councilmember Maria Baez allocated $7,655,000 in City capital funds to the project, which also used New Markets Tax Credit equity as part of its financing.
